Ministry of Infrastructure: Restoration of Ganmukhuri coastline in active phase
Georgian Minister of Infrastructure Revaz Sokhadze arrived in the western Samegrelo region of Georgia and got familiarized with the ongoing infrastructure projects.
The Minister visited the large-scale works for the restoration of the coastline in Ganmukhuri village of the Zugdidi Municipality.
He accentuated on complexity of works due to erosion in the territory and stressed on the research with the involvement of international experts for defining long-term measures to stop the erosion process.
According to Sokhadze, the works are being carried out by the Roads Department, the project cost is more than 3.2 million GEL and is fully financed from the state budget.
He remarked on the forthcoming tourist season and said that Municipal Development Fund had launched designing for the renovation of Ganmukhri and Anaklia coastlines and envisages the arrangement of modern multi-functional recreational space available in all 4 seasons, extended onto 67 hectares of territory comprising sports, cultural, educational zones, pedestrian and bicycle lanes and a bridge connecting Anaklia with Ganmukhuri.
The Minister visited the construction of public schools in Zugdidi city and Octomberi village. “The implementation of infrastructure projects in the Samegrelo region aims to improve the quality of life of the local population as well as strengthen its tourism and economic potential,” he said.
