Ministry of Education to be independent entity, Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth merge

“The Ministry of Education will become a separate agency, while the Culture, Sports, and Youth are to be merged into one ministry,” Georgian PM Giorgi Gakharia said at the governmental meeting on Thursday.

According to the head of the government, the decree is ready.

“According to the decree, the Ministry of Culture and Sports will split from the Ministry of Education. The Youth Agency will merge with the Ministry of Culture and Sports. It is an important step for the representatives of both the culture and the sports. Our cultural heritage, like contemporary art, is a precious part of everyday life. The Youth Agency, which used to operate under the supervision of the government administration, will become part of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth,” Gakharia said.
