Minister of Infrastructure: We are always ready to talk with business representatives

The ongoing legislative and systemic changes in the infrastructure sector, new regulations and their practical implementation were the focus of an expanded working meeting held in a public-private dialogue format, co-organised by the Government of Georgia and the Association of Infrastructure Builders.

The parties discussed the legislative and systemic changes implemented in 2026, as well as the new legislative framework for price indexation and the reforms and regulations.

According to the Minister of Infrastructure, Revaz Sokhadze, a very healthy discussion took place. Sokhadze said they are always ready to talk with business representatives, to present their plans to them and to hear their positions.

“Today another meeting took place between business and government representatives. We maintain an ongoing dialogue with the business community, always remaining open to outlining our strategies and hearing their perspectives. I can confirm that no complaints or concerns were raised during the session of today’s meeting that I attended.

We outlined and summarised the reforms completed so far in this area, though this remains an ongoing process rather than a concluded one. We will take on board and factor in every new development and innovation that serves to strengthen and advance this sector. I don’t want it to come across the wrong way, but there really were no complaints. There were questions, which we answered. There were certain, let’s say, not problems, but rather matters of refinement that came up in conversation, which we are indeed aware of and are working on. It was a very healthy discussion, entirely free of tension,” Sokhadze stated.

He further stated that the private sector had highlighted challenges concerning project quality, a concern which the Minister validated as a pressing issue.

“There were issues raised by the private sector regarding design work, regarding the quality of projects, and this is indeed a challenge. There were issues regarding expert knowledge, and this too is indeed a challenge. The Georgian government is today actively working on all of these challenges to take very effective steps so that we can make progress in this direction,” Revaz Sokhadze noted.
