Minister of Economy: Government continues to support investors, developers in energy sector who ensure increase in installed capacities
“We have positive drives in the energy sector, and the government continues to support all investors and developers who ensure an increase in installed capacities,” said Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili following the Economic Forum.
The discussion focused on “Energy Policy: New Challenges and New Opportunities.” The Minister opened the Forum and familiarized the energy sector representatives with implemented and ongoing reforms.
The Minister also spoke about the country’s potential to achieve energy independence and noted that the 10-year strategy is based on specific technical parameters and the real needs of the power system. She remarked on the significance of the Black Sea Submarine Cable project both for Georgia and the European Union.
“We agreed that the ongoing reform, which is extremely important for the development of the energy sector, will continue through joint efforts,” she stated.
Davit Narmania, Chairperson at Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC); Levan Vepkhvadze, Executive Director of the Business Association of Georgia (BAG); and Zurab Kokosadze, Deputy Director General of the Bank of Georgia (BoG) participated in the panel discussion, moderated by Giorgi Abashishvili, CEO at Business Insider Georgia and Founder of the Georgian Economic Forum.
