Mikheil Saakashvili quits UNM, Georgian politics, ex-president’s lawyer says
Georgia’s jailed ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili quits the United National Movement (UNM) party and the Georgian politics, lawyer Valeri Gelbakhiani said.
According to Gelbakhiani, the ex-president’s political resources exhausted and his main objective is to save his health and life.
Gelbakhiani said Mikheil Saakashvili had told him that he arrived in Georgia to demonstrate to the Georgian people that he was not a coward and was not hiding from the judiciary.
It is the government’s responsibility to care about a human’s life and there is no physician who has a “precise recipe” for Saakashvili’s medication.
“Misha Saakashvili is not iron. He is a human and needs help. All attention should be shifted in that direction. Everyone, who wants Misha to survive, should act,” Valeri Gelbakhiani said.
