Since independence, Georgia has steadily advanced toward becoming a democracy with a strong civil society, free-market economy, and a demonstrated commitment to international security, – reads the congratulation letter of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, which was published on the official website of the US Department.

“On behalf of the U.S. government, I wish the people of Georgia a happy Independence Day.

Since independence, Georgia has steadily advanced toward becoming a democracy with a strong civil society, free-market economy, and a demonstrated commitment to international security.  The economic, business, and educational ties between our countries are strong and growing.  Georgia is a strategic partner of the United States in addressing regional and international challenges in the spheres of security, counterterrorism, and nonproliferation.  Georgian forces bravely serve shoulder to shoulder with U.S. forces in Afghanistan.
