Within the framework of the fight against illegal migration, officers of the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained 31 foreign individuals as a result of complex operations, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported.
According to the MIA, the detainees include citizens of India, Turkiye, Uzbekistan, Kenya, Pakistan, China, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
Authorities established that they were staying in the country without legal grounds under the Law of Georgia “On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons.”
They are currently being held at the Migration Department’s temporary accommodation centre to enforce the expulsion decisions and facilitate their return to their countries of origin.
“The Migration Department routinely conducts special immigration control operations to ensure the effective enforcement of Georgia’s Law ‘On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons,’” the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
