Migration Department detains 14 foreign nationals during special immigration control operation
In a concerted effort to combat illegal migration, officers of the Migration Department carried out a targeted immigration control operation.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), based on gathered intelligence, personnel inspected specific locations within the scope of the operation to identify foreign nationals residing in Georgia without legal authorisation.
“As a result of this comprehensive operation, 14 foreign nationals were detained. Among them are citizens of India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Libya. It was determined that their presence violates the provisions of Georgia’s Law on the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons,” the MIA reports.
The individuals are currently held at the Migration Department’s temporary accommodation centre. Appropriate procedures are underway for their expulsion from the country.
The Migration Department plans to conduct immigration control measures regularly to ensure the effective enforcement of Georgia’s legislation concerning foreigners and stateless persons.
