MIA to keep on rescue efforts in Batumi

Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) keeps on non-stop rescue efforts in Batumi city.

The rescuers pulled four corpses from the rubble late last night. They also removed two injured persons from the ruins. They are placed at a hospital undergoing medical treatment.

“Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri, Deputy Interior Minister Ioseb Chelidze and Head of the Emergency Situations Management Service Temur Mghebrishvili remain in Batumi to coordinate the rescue works. Cleaning of the territory continues,” MIA said in a statement.

Part of a five-storey residential building on May 26 Street in Batumi collapsed on October 8. Neighbours say the building had a two-storey extension on top.
