MIA to investigate Chkondidi Eparchy incident

The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs will investigate the incident that occurred in Martvili and Chkondidi Eparchy today. The investigation is underway under Article 124 of the Criminal Code, which implies negligent damage to health.

Several people, including media representatives, were injured in a clash between Eparchy representatives and part of the parish in the Eparchy on Monday.

A wooden balcony railing of the Eparchy residence collapsed during the clash. Several people fell from the balcony. They have been hospitalized.

Part of the parish demands the resignation of the newly appointed Reverend Stephan. The dispute started after two clergies Konstantine Gabisonia and Petre Ghudushauri were deprived of the priesthood.
