MIA seizes up to 33 kilograms of narcotic drugs, valued at 6 million GEL on black market

Officers of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), within illegal circulation and proliferation of narcotic drugs, through complex police measures, detained 2 foreign nationals in Rustavi town.

Director of the Central Criminal Police Department Davit Kiknadze announced at the briefing that law enforcers confiscated approximately 33 kilograms of tetrahydrocannabinol, so-called hashish, valued at 6 million GEL on the black market, during a search of a residential place. The drugs were hidden in a vehicle’s tyres. Cocaine, heroin, and methadone were confiscated from a hotel room.

The investigation is in progress under Articles 260, 260 (part 4), 19–260, and 265-1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provide for imprisonment for a term of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
