MIA releases statement on measures taken at border checkpoints

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has released a statement regarding the measures taken at the state border crossing checkpoints to prevent the possible spread of the new coronavirus in Georgia and to offer prompt response on the cases of possible infection.

Main Division of the Border Management and Coordination under the Patrol Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will conduct inspection of passengers arriving from the countries identified as high-risk zones by the WHO at the state border crossing checkpoints and registration of information on their accommodation in Georgia.

The ministry explains that four states are currently identified as high-risk countries: China, South Korea, Iran and Italy. Those foreigners or Georgian citizens who have traveled to these countries during the past two weeks are also identified as a risk group.

Intensive check-ups are carried out at the following border crossing checkpoints: Red Bridge, Sadakhlo, Sarpi and Dariali, as well as at all three Georgian airports: Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi.  In addition, medical staff is constantly on duty in the mentioned points.
