MIA detains three foreign nationals for drug-related crime

Officers from the Mtskheta-Mtianeti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) detained three foreign nationals on charges of purchasing, keeping and selling a large amount of narcotic drugs in a group.

While searching a vehicle stopped for a check, law enforcement officers seized an especially large quantity of the narcotic substance methadone as evidence. Police also searched temporary residential places of the detainees and discovered packaging material.

According to the MIA, the investigation is in progress under Articles 260 and 260-4 of the Criminal Code, which provide for imprisonment for a term of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
