MIA detains 9 individuals on drug-related charges

Officers of the Central Criminal Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), in collaboration with the Adjara, Tbilisi, and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Departments, detained 9 individuals on drug-related charges.

There are both Georgian and foreign citizens, as well as individuals with past convictions, among the detainees.

Law enforcers, upon search of apartments, houses and different locations and facilities, confiscated Mephedrone, Methadone, Buprenorphine, Morphine, Codeine, Thebaine, Heroine, alpha-PVP and Marijuana, packaging material and cash money as evidence.

The investigation is in progress under Articles 260, 261 and 273 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. The detainees face up to 20 years in prison or a life sentence if convicted.
