MIA detains 22 individuals at UNM rally in Batumi

Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) detained 22 individuals, all of them members of the opposition United National Movement (UNM) party, during the rally in the Adjara region’s Batumi city held in support of ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili.

The conflict followed the protesters’ attempt to set up tents at Gamsakhurdia Street and block the road from the traffic movement.

The opposition United National Movement (UNM) party and family members insist on the need for overseas medical treatment of the ex-president.

Public Defender-assigned group of doctors on April 27 published a new evaluation, saying that Mikheil Saakashvili’s health has “further deteriorated” since their previous visit to the Rustavi Prison in January.
