MIA destroys 553 kilograms of various narcotics worth over 34 million GEL

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has destroyed 553 kilograms of narcotics seized as evidence as a result of investigative measures conducted at various times throughout the country. Their total value on the so-called black market is over 34 million GEL.

According to the MIA, officers of the Forensic-Criminalistics Department destroyed especially large quantities of various narcotics in a high-temperature, specially designed oven in accordance with the latest standards, including: “Methadone”, “MDMA”, “Heroin”, “Cocaine”, “Buprenorphine”, “Alpha-PVP”, “Clephedrone”, “Tramadol” and “Codeine”. Psychotropic and new psychoactive substances were destroyed as well.

In accordance with the existing legislation, the process of drug destruction is being carried out in compliance with modern environmental standards. Along with the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who are members of the Standing Commission, representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Ministry of Health participate in the process.
