MIA, CEC signs cooperation memorandum

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri, and the Chair of the Central Election Commission, Giorgi Kalandarishvili, signed a memorandum of cooperation to ensure that the parliamentary elections on October 26, 2024, are conducted in a peaceful and safe environment.

The memorandum establishes a coordinated exchange of information between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the CEC within their existing mandates. It outlines the forms of cooperation during the election period and sets the relevant legal framework.

Additionally, the memorandum includes provisions for joint training sessions involving Ministry of Internal Affairs staff and CEC representatives, as well as the organization of work meetings.

This cooperative approach has been implemented for several years to enhance the security of the election process.
