MIA calls on rally organizers and participants not to break law, to ensure peaceful rally

Law enforcement officers are working to ensure the safety of each citizen during the ongoing manifestation in the vicinity of the Parliament building, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement as participants of the rally gathered around the building of the legislative body.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs called on the rally organizers and each participant not to violate the law, follow the instructions of the law enforcement officers and ensure that the rally is held in a peaceful environment.

The law defines the response for each violation, the ministry added, having explained that police are mobilized at the entrances of the parliament and call on the rally participants to vacate the entrance and exit spaces of the Parliament building to ensure the safe movement of the members of the parliament and staff of the legislative body and to avoid artificial escalation.

The Law of Georgia on Assemblies and Demonstrations prohibits blocking the entrances of administrative bodies and disrupting their activities.
