Georgian Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting with Giorgi Kalandarishvili, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC), with the participation of the heads of the diplomatic missions.
Following the meeting, Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili said the attendees reviewed preparation for the October parliamentary elections.
“We agreed that the Foreign Ministry and CEC will continue close cooperation, coordination and communication to ensure that, on the one hand, the Georgian citizens expressed their constitutional right freely and on the other hand, the elections are safe, risk-free and technologically flawless,” Darchiashvili said.
CEC Chair Giorgi Kalandarishvili remarked that the ambassadors were asked to provide elections-related information to the Georgian citizens living abroad.
“Sharing information and progressive activities with diplomats is significant for the participation of Georgian citizens living in different countries in the upcoming elections. We stay in constant communication with the Foreign Ministry to exchange the information regularly to ensure holding the elections professionally in line with European and international standards,” Kalandarishvili said.
