Metropolitan Shio: Today our Church and state are free and independent, we must work harder to protect this freedom
“Thank God, today both our Church and our state are free and independent. However, this obliges us to work even harder to protect and strengthen this freedom,” the Locum Tenens of the Patriarchal Throne, Metropolitan Shio of Senaki and Chkhorotsku, stated on the Day of the Restoration of the Autocephaly of the Georgian Orthodox Church.
“Thank God, today both our Church and our state are free and independent. However, this obliges us to work even harder to protect and strengthen this freedom. We must honour the legacy of those who fought for the restoration of autocephaly—our great ancestors and patriarchs,” he said.
