According to the Patriarchal Throne, Shio Mujiri, Metropolitan of Senaki and Chkhorotsku, says a slight improvement has been observed in the health condition of Ilia II.
Speaking to journalists, Metropolitan Shio noted that a specialist resuscitator from Turkey is expected to arrive during the night to assess the Patriarch’s condition.
“We are expecting a specialist, a resuscitator, from Turkey by the first hour of the night. At the moment, the same therapy that was prescribed earlier is continuing. Doctors are monitoring the dynamics of the Patriarch’s condition, including blood pressure parameters and other indicators, to determine the next steps.
The most important thing now is for all of Georgia—our parish and the people—to pray for his health. May God bless him and strengthen him. We are also waiting for new information; we believe we will learn more in the evening. As we know, a slight improvement is currently observed, which is encouraging,” Metropolitan Shio said.
Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II was admitted to the Caucasus Medical Centre in the late hours of the night following a deterioration in his health. Physicians have reported that the Patriarch suffered severe gastric bleeding, for which the necessary procedures were carried out and the haemorrhage brought under control. The Caucasus Medical Centre has confirmed that Ilia II is currently in the critical care department and on mechanical ventilation.
