Metropolitan Shio: Peace is built on understanding, love, and forgiveness

The Locum Tenens of the Patriarchal Throne, Metropolitan of Senaki and Chkhorotsku Shio (Mujiri), spoke about the essence of peace during his sermon at the Sioni Patriarchal Cathedral, emphasizing that achieving true peace requires mutual understanding, love, and forgiveness.

Referring to the Gospel, he recalled that after His resurrection, Jesus Christ appeared to His apostles and greeted them with the words, “Peace be with you.” He stressed that this divine peace differs from worldly peace, which, throughout history, has failed to bring lasting harmony.

According to the Metropolitan, peace is twofold: peace with God and peace with others. Peace with God is achieved through spiritual effort and closeness to the divine, while peace among people depends on living according to Gospel teachings.

He outlined several key conditions necessary for establishing peace: mutual understanding, a kind and loving attitude toward others, forbearance and the ability to forgive.

Metropolitan Shio emphasized that achieving peace requires both human effort and divine assistance, recalling the teaching of Ilia II on the importance of synergy between human will and God’s help.
