MEP Rasa Juknevičienė: EP resolution has two important amendments, on Nika Gvaramia and Mikheil Saakashvili
“First of all, we have to look at the full content of the resolution, because it has a lot of positive notes saying that we are in favor of future of Georgia,” said MEP Rasa Juknevičienė when commenting on the annual report on Georgia’s Association Agreement implementation.
She said the MEPs supported to have Georgia “on board” of the European Union and the country’s getting a candidate status.
“The resolution was strengthened with amendments, among them were important about Bidzina Ivanishvili’s possible ties with Russia and asking for the institutions to elaborate on that and if it is like that to impose sanctions not only on him but also on his closest surrounding.
Also there were two important amendments on Nika Gvaramia asking President to pardon him and also on Mikheil Saakashvili, former president of Georgia. It mentions possible poisoning asking President to do all her best not to have his health condition turn to bad and give him the possibility to get medical treatment,” she said.
The European Parliament (EP) on December 14 adopted an annual report on the implementation of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement (AA). The report comprises several amendments as recommendations.
