“Georgia abandoned European perspectives, which has led to negative consequences both within the country and outside it,” said MEP Nacho Sánchez Amor during the debates on the case of Elene Khoshtaria and Political Prisoners in the European Parliament.

According to the MEP, Brussels only reacts when Russia is supported, not wishing to be “in such a morally unstable boat.”

“Here, Armenia’s Prime Minister called Georgia’s accession to the European Union an important step. They, however, have abandoned their European perspectives, which has led to negative consequences both within the country and outside it. There is a long list of journalists, politicians, and members of civil society who have become victims of legal persecution. We mentioned Elene Khoshtaria here, but along with her, numerous representatives of various democratic groups are in prison, who have raised their voices in favor of democracy,” stated Nacho Sánchez Amor.
