MEP Cramon: Georgian President made difficult but necessary step by pardoning Rurua
European Parliament Member Viola von Cramon believes Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili made a difficult but necessary step by pardoning Giorgi Rurua.
“I applaud her courage and leadership. Other politicians of Georgia should also do their part and follow/join the EU-brokered deal. Interests of Georgia and its people are above party interests!” MEP Cramon tweeted.

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili has pardoned the co-founder of the Mtavari Arkhi TV channel Giorgi Rurua on Tuesday.
The decision came soon after opposition MPs took up their mandates in the parliament.
Pardon is not a political decision. It must not be subject to interference, pressure or negotiations.
But I take upon myself the duty to end the deadlock. I will pardon, but only once the parties sign the final agreement and the EU/US announce that an agreement has been reached.
