On February 23, 1921, the Day of Remembrance for the Cadets who fell in the Battle of Kojori-Tabakhmela against the Russian Army was observed at the Palace of the Parliament of Georgia.

To honor the memory of the Georgian Cadets who gave their lives for the unity of Georgia, the Chairman of Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, the Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze, the President, Mikheil Kavelashvili, and the Mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, laid wreaths at the Cadet Memorial in the inner courtyard of the Palace of the Parliament.

“Today, we commemorate the Day of Remembrance of the Cadets. This day reminds us of the difficult circumstances in which Georgia has historically developed. The threats we face in this region are not new, and these threats were evident in 1921, when our country was Sovietized. Not only was our territory conquered, but the Soviet ideology also took hold of our people’s minds,” said Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili.

Shalva Papuashvili further emphasized that Georgia has always had to confront threats, many of which persist today.

“These threats still exist. They involve attempts to capture the minds of our society, to confuse us with false ideologies, to make us embrace foreign flags and anthems, and to serve the interests of other countries or political groups, rather than our own. Therefore, it is essential to remember our cadets and their heroism today. We must all understand the nature of their bravery,” said Shalva Papuashvili.
