We hope the next round of negotiations will take place as the country is in crisis, – Sergo Chikhladze, one of the members of Strategy Builder made this statement when commenting about the statement of EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzell.

Ambassador said the only alternative is negotiation and dialogue. There were quite sharp messages, including towards the government. Georgian Dream should take these messages into account. We hope the next round will take place as the country is in crisis. It was clearly stated for the first time that the announcing about those two legislative initiatives is not appropriate and is not shared. As for the opposition, we are ready for negotiations, despite Kobakhidze’s destructive statements”, – Sergo Chikhladze said. 

He noted that the Georgian Dream had not brought any compromise proposal to the negotiating table. “They will have to talk about early elections. The early elections can defuse the political crisis”, – Chikhladze added. 

On Saturday, the EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzell said that the two legislative initiatives introduced by the ruling party would not help the ongoing negotiation process and caused concern to him. He also noted that he felt “there was too much pressure on individual MPs to refuse from their mandates, which helped to close the door on the possibility of reaching a broad agreement.”
