A meeting of the Holy Synod has convened and is ongoing at the Georgian Orthodox Church (GOC).
Members of the Holy Synod will review issues related to the repose of Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Archbishop of Mtskheta-Tbilisi, and Metropolitan of Bichvinta and Sokhumi-Abkhazia, Ilia II.
According to Andria Jaghmaidze, Head of the Public Relations Service of the Georgian Patriarchate, the society will be notified about the decision made by the Holy Synod.
Following the session, the remains of His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, will be transferred to the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Holy Trinity. A procession on foot will set off from the Patriarchal residence at 16:00.
Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II died on March 17 at the age of 93.
