Mayor Kaladze: We did not aggravate relations with Ukraine, we were in unilateral friendship regime

Kakha Kaladze, Mayor of Tbilisi, stated that Georgia’s government did not worsen relations with Ukraine and that its approach throughout the period has been one of “one-sided friendship.”

Responding to journalists’ questions, Kaladze stated that Georgia’s responses throughout the period had been correct.

“We have not escalated relations; on the contrary, throughout this time we were in a defensive, responding mode. Our responses were very correct. We were in a one-sided friendship mode,” he said.

He added that it is disappointing when statements and certain actions are made against Georgia, while also emphasizing understanding of Ukraine’s difficult situation.

“We fully understand how difficult the situation in Ukraine is and what processes are ongoing there. I want to wish peace to the Ukrainian people first of all,” Kaladze said.
