Mayor Kaladze affirms confidence in Georgia's EU candidacy

Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze responded to journalist’s questions regarding the statements made by Murman Dumbadze, an opposition member, regarding Georgia’s EU membership candidacy. Dumbadze had suggested that Georgia does not deserve the status of an EU candidate, and its obtaining would extend Georgian Dream’s stay in power until 2030.

Kaladze asserted that despite the opposition’s efforts, Georgia would definitely achieve candidate status. He expressed confidence in the country’s success, emphasizing that all necessary steps had been taken.

Regarding the opposition United National Movement’s statement that Georgia’s candidacy status would be due to the merits of the Georgian people rather than the ruling Georgian Dream, Kaladze contended that since 2012, the GD has represented the majority will of the Georgian people.

“National Movement is stuck in the past. They continue to hold the same dangerous attitude towards the country and its people,” he added.
