Mamuka Mdinaradze: I will gladly take on any task assigned by GD team

“I will gladly undertake the fulfilment of any task assigned to me by the Georgian Dream team,” Georgia’s newly appointed Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Development Mamuka Mdinaradze said in response to a journalist’s question about his new position.

According to Mdinaradze, regional policy is one of the government’s key priorities.

“A great deal of work is being done in the regions, and it requires systematic and effective management, as well as reducing bureaucratic elements. Conducting regional policy is a priority. Regional development is often associated primarily with social and technical issues, whereas these should be only one component of broader regional policy. Every government agency should, to a certain extent, be accountable in regional matters to the State Minister and his office,” he said.

Mdinaradze also thanked his predecessor, Kakhaber Guledani, for establishing the ministry.

“I would like to express my great appreciation to Kakhaber Guledani, who built this ministry. His proper management created even greater ambitions to move to a higher level,” Mdinaradze said.

At the same time, Mdinaradze did not rule out moving to another area in the future where he could face greater challenges.

“I do not rule out the possibility that I may not remain in this position for very long. My main mission here is to put certain issues in order, improve management and get things on track. If there is a greater challenge elsewhere later, I may move there as well,” he said.
