Maka Botchorishvili pledges dedication to Georgia’s national interests as new FM
Maka Botchorishvili, the candidate for Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, emphasized her commitment to safeguarding the country’s national interests and constitutional goals.
She thanked the Georgian Dream team and Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze for their trust, describing the position as a significant responsibility.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and the Georgian Dream team for the trust they have placed in me. Leading our country’s foreign policy in these challenging times requires both courage and caution. It is a tremendous responsibility, especially given how external factors influence our domestic politics and, in turn, how internal affairs are leveraged on the international stage. Serving our country from the executive branch, following the parliament’s vote of confidence, is a profound honour.
Defending Georgia’s national interests has always been a challenging task. Every moment of my life will be dedicated to ensuring that our constitutional goals and national interests are upheld to the fullest extent in the international arena.
Joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs feels like returning home, as this institution shaped much of my professional journey. At the same time, I deeply value the strength and insight I’ve gained from working with the parliamentary team. I am truly honoured to be part of this team and to continue our shared mission of safeguarding Georgia’s interests. Thank you again for your trust and confidence. From the executive branch, I will do my utmost to serve our nation,” she stated.
Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced the new government composition, naming Botchorishvili as the new Foreign Minister.
