MP Sarjveladze: Mistakes made during June 20 events, but assessments to be exaggerated

“I do not think that there was excess use of force. The more mechanisms are used to ensure all questions and suspicions regarding violations erased, the Committee and I personally welcome it,” said the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights, Mikheil Sarjveladze.

“Another issue is what the findings would be. We all have our opinions. I always welcome the exercise of a right aimed at establishing the truth. The made assessment and the proved facts must be as accurate and clear as possible. There was misconduct on the night of June 20, but in many cases, we heard exaggerated and overly obscure opinions on a number of issues,” Sarjveladze said.

The Young Lawyers’ Association (GYLA) and its partner have filed two new complaints with the European Court of Human Rights.
