Irakli Kobakhidze, a member of the parliamentary majority called on the opposition for the return to legislative activities. Kobakhidze said the oppositional lawmakers had the right to declare political boycott but it was unlikely that the move benefitted them.
“It is better if the opposition is concentrated on the elections and parliamentary work. Otherwise, they will further lose votes. Therefore, they should rather work in a different regime although it is their decision. We will be working on the issues important to the society but the opposition is engaged with the issues that are interesting only to their parties,” Kobakhidze stated.
The spring session of the Georgian parliament was opened earlier this afternoon. The parliamentary opposition boycotts the plenary sittings.
