Majority leader Kirtskhalia: Calling Giorgi Kandelaki politician is insult to society, he maintains style of betrayal

“When the name Giorgi Kandelaki comes up, many of us recall his actions and behavior in the corridors of the European Parliament since 2012. He has been known to rush from office to office, demanding that Georgia be denied various benefits, such as visa-free travel, the Association Agreement, or candidate status,” stated  Irakli Kirtskhalia, the leader of the parliamentary majority, during a recent briefing.

Kirtskhalia was responding to an article published by the Washington Free Beacon, which was based on a report co-authored by former MP Giorgi Kandelaki. He accused Kandelaki of lobbying against Georgia’s interests within European institutions and characterized his actions as part of a broader, coordinated effort against the country.

“This appears to be his assigned role within this larger group. We must also remember the false articles he was reportedly involved in as a co-author. It’s worth noting that he and his NGO once received a grant from the embassy of a European country to mark tourist trails, which is quite absurd in itself. The part of this grant may have been misused for other purposes, including the preparation of misleading reports and articles. He continues this behavior and maintains the same approach. In this regard, I can confidently say that he resembles a ‘modern Sergo Ordzhonikidze.’ Referring to him as a politician is an insult to our society. He persists in his assigned tasks and executes them diligently. What matters is how these actions are counterproductive to our society. First and foremost, we care about our country, our society, and our internal politics. We have identified the individuals acting against our interests in various ways. One of them is this gentleman running around, creating a narrative of complete absurdity and disseminating it through different channels. We have witnessed yet another example of betrayal from the collective ‘Natsis’ side,” stated Irakli Kirtskhalia.
