Majority leader believes US should lift sanctions on judges

“The US should lift sanctions on Georgian judges and apologize to Lasha Chkhikvadze,” said parliamentary majority leader, Mamuka Mdinaradze.

Mdinaradze answered the question on the demand to launch a probe into the case of the US-designated judges. He said the Georgian side asked for the presentation of evidence, otherwise probing is against democratic standards.”

“Americans, Europeans and Georgians have a common value – no country starts an investigation without evidence. In this case, the request to start an investigation without evidence is not the right request. On the contrary, we ask them, in this discussion, either to lift the sanctions from the judges, as well as to apologize to Judge Lasha Chkhikvadze. If they do not want to act so, let them present evidence based on which they sanctioned these people and the Georgian side will launch probing,” he said.
