Lithuanian Ambassador concerns with possibility of disproportionate measures
Lithuanian Ambassador to Georgia Andrius Kalindra arrived at the United National Movement office. He told reporters, he is concerned that disproportionate measures may be taken in connection with the arrest verdict.
At the same time, according to Andrius Kalindra, Lithuania is a strong supporter of Georgia. The ambassador said they are working with all political parties to make Georgia successful in its Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
“Republic of Lithuania is very strong in supporting Georgia as a country. We work with all the political parties in order to have the success of the country towards the Euro-Atlantic community. I’m here to express also solidarity with all the developments that are taking place right here. Indeed, we are concerned about the future in case of disproportionate measures may be taken,” Andrius Kalindra told journalists.
Tbilisi City Court ruled imprisonment for Nika Melia, Chairman of the opposition United National Movement (UNM) party, on February 17. The Ministry of Interior was tasked to enforce the ruling.
