Linas Linkevičius: Lithuania believes Georgia doesn’t need Action Plan for NATO membership
When talking about the Open Door Policy, NATO names aspirant countries all together and this is very important, – The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius told to the First Channel.
As for MAP, Lithuania believes Georgia doesn’t need an Action Plan for NATO membership – he noted.
“We have a clear position in that regard. You have all the tools and we see no necessity in obtaining additional tools from MAP. Consensus is essential and not MAP.
However, not everyone thinks so. Those member states, which are not ready for political decision, may say that the MAP – Membership Action Plan is required. When you are not ready for decision you may try to find technical reasons and MAP can be used as an argument. I recommend you to continue the reforms and the moment of making a political decision will definitely come.
I say again that you are not alone and you have a promise of membership on the basis of NATO declaration” – Linas Linkevičius said.
