Levan Murusidze claims that there is no "clan" in judiciary

Claims regarding the clan are inadmissible. This is the court’s corps which felt that it is an independent branch of power – Levan Murusidze, judge of Court of Appeal having life tenure, told reporters. According to Murusidze, it is wrong to call the corps of judges “clan” as the number of cases sent to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg has been reduced by 11 times.

“There is no “clan” in the judiciary. Since 2012, the so-called “clan” and the High Council of Justice and the entire court corps – has shown the best result of the judicial system in the history of Georgia. The clearest result is that the number of tases sent to the Strasburg Court has been reduced by 11 times. This is the court’s corps which felt that it is an independent branch of power and therefore, tries to present its interests,” Murusidze claimed.
