“We held a very good meeting with senior European officials representing the so-called Weimar States, key figures shaping policy toward Georgia and the wider region,” said the member of Lelo – Strong Georgia, Grigol Gegelia.

According to Gegelia, the meeting was attended by ambassadors of the Weimar countries to Georgia, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps.

“We discussed all major issues posing challenges to our democracy. I can say clearly that there will be no settlement at a ‘bargain’ price. If the Georgian Dream government seeks normalization with the European Union and the broader democratic world, it will have to take concrete steps,” he said.

Gegelia outlined conditions he believes are necessary for improving relations, including the release and pardon of individuals he describes as political prisoners, the holding of new elections, and ending policies that deepen political polarization.

“Under the current course—marked by anti-European rhetoric, contested elections, and state capture—there will be no reset with the European Union,” he added.

Gegelia noted that the meeting was held behind closed doors and declined to provide further details.
