Lelo’s Gegelia: Botchorishvili deliberately undermining foundations of Georgia’s foreign policy
The summoning of the UK ambassador is a continuation of the comic circus that Botchorishvili’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is representing, said Grigol Gegelia, a member of Lelo – Strong Georgia.
According to Gegelia, the Ministry is failing to fulfill its foreign policy goals and responsibilities.
“Instead of pursuing the Ministry’s foreign policy objectives, attracting investments, maintaining adequate relations with the European Union, and performing the functions assigned to it by the Georgian Constitution, Botchorishvili has turned the Ministry into a shameful office that occasionally ‘scolds’ one diplomat and then another. This so-called Ministry has achieved nothing else of value. It is comical to even speak about them, as they are undermining Georgia’s foreign policy goals and objectives. Botchorishvili is the lowest-level Foreign Minister this country has ever had, and we see that she is purposefully and systematically damaging the very foundations on which Georgian foreign policy has long been based,” Gegelia said.
For reference, the British Ambassador was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide explanations.
