Lelo believes formal unification of parties to be wrong

Saba Buadze, a member of the opposition Lelo party, believes that offering the Georgian society a “diverse, solid, competent and reliable alternative” is the key to the change of the government.

Buadze’s remark came after UNM Chair Levan Khabeishvili’s statement, saying the “UNM holds the key of Bidzina Ivanishvili’s (GD founder) defeat” and inviting other parties to cooperate and “receive the key copies.”

According to Saba Buadze, the Lelo party will play a significant role in forming such an alternative political force.

“Everyone who wishes for a formal unity of parties is wrong. We must unify political parties and society around specific goals and values rather than attempting to establish artificial party coalitions,” he said.

Remarking on any similarities with the UNM values, the Lelo member said that Vano Merabishvili (former MP), who spoke on behalf of the values, belonged to the “political past.”

He said Merabishvili was associated with the crackdown on critical media and the human rights violation, and thus cooperation with the UNM was impossible and unacceptable.
