Legal Affairs Committee Chair sees no alternative centres in opposition, only 'radical group'
“Saakashvili’s (ex-President) appeal is a part of the story of him dying and the victim of torture. However, he was caught in lies by the Strasbourg Court. It is the same when saying that the country will collapse if he is not the main person or everything revolves around him,” said Anri Okhanashvili, Chair of the Legal Affairs Committee.
Okanashvili remarked on Mikheil Saakashvili’s statements made via the video link at today’s trial about the unity of the opposition.
“There are no alternative centres, only a radical group, be it Gvaramia, Melia, or Khabeishvili. This is the ideological group of the United National Movement (UNM). They follow the ideology of their leader, and nobody will allow them to take a step without his instructions,” he said.
Jailed ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili said: I fall in despair when they speak about party differences. We are ready for any concession, neutral election number, or unified list. The peace that the government wants is at a cemetery.”
