Lawyer says Saakashvili's health deteriorates, preventing his presence at trial

Georgia’s ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili, accused of the November 7, 2007 protest raid and the invasion of Imedi TV station, will not attend the trial due to deteriorating health.

His lawyer, Beka Basilaia, stated that Saakashvili’s health condition worsened, preventing his participation in the budget fund appropriation trial in early January.

The court session is set to question three prosecution witnesses, focusing on the victims of the November 7 rally raid.

Saakashvili faces charges of exceeding authority in the November 7 case, along with former officials Zurab Adeishvili, Vano Merabishvili, Gigi Ugulava, and Davit Kezerashvili.
