Lasha Shavdatuashvili and Eter Liparteliani to compete at Paris Olympics
Lasha Shavdatuashvili (73 kg) and Eter Liparteliani (57 kg) will compete for medals on the third day of the judo tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Shavdatuashvili, a holder of all three types of Olympic medals, will face host Joan-Benjamin Gaba
in the first round. If victorious, he will compete against the winner of the Tanzanian and Tongan athletes in the second stage. Notably, Shavdatuashvili might face the Japanese judoka Soichi Hashimoto in the quarterfinals.
In the women’s 57 kg category, Eter Liparteliani will compete in the D grid, starting against British judoka Lele Nairne.
Preliminary matches are set to begin at noon.
The Georgian national team is yet to secure a medal in Paris Olympics.
