Labour Inspection Service to oversee medical staff minimum wage

The Labour Inspection Service will kick off to study the matter of the minimum wage for physicians and nurses. Effective 1 January, 2023, a minimum hourly wage of GEL 7 will be paid to physicians and GEL 4.4 to nurses.

The Labour Inspection Service said it was authorised to conduct thorough inspections of healthcare institutions, including checks on the respect for workers’ rights and matters pertaining to the minimum pay for physicians and nurses.

“Labour Inspection Service will act strictly in response to any unscrupulous actions undertaken by employers while protecting the rights of all employees as required by law,” reads the statement.
