Labour Inspection closes unsafe zones in Republican Hospital, restricts movement on clinic territory

“Due to strong winds, the Republican Hospital sustained damages, including broken windows and debris falling onto the hospital area. The Labour Inspection Office, in response to potential safety hazards, has restricted movement in the affected areas,” the Georgian Health Ministry reported.

The Ministry announced plans to dismantle the current building of Tbilisi Republican Hospital. The Ministry notes that this decision is based on the clinic’s significant challenges and problems, as highlighted by five expert opinions, both Georgian and international.

“Both local and international experts participated in the assessment process, and their studies revealed the challenging circumstances faced by the Republican Hospital. The specialists’ consensus indicated that reconstructing the building to meet international standards is impractical and financially unfeasible. Alongside the identified infrastructural issues, challenges persist in terms of limited clinic services, non-compliance with standards, and various clinical and financial hurdles. Ensuring the safety of clinic employees also remains a significant concern,” the statement reads.

According to the Ministry, the Labor Inspection Office, in response to potential safety hazards, has closed dangerous zones in Republican Hospital and restricted movement in the clinic territory.
