Kutaisi International University (KIU) has officially opened today.
The opening ceremony was attended by members of the government and parliament, representatives of the diplomatic corps and international organizations.
The university received the first intake of students in three specialities – Mathematics, Computer Science and Management, and in the future, the number of specialities will increase.
KIU includes student and staff accommodation, academic buildings, library, cafes, indoor and outdoor recreational spaces, electric transport, bike lanes.
In addition, Kutaisi International University has joined a framework agreement with the German Yulikh Research Center. Students have the opportunity to complete certain projects at Yulikh Research Center.
The University will also cover tuition fees for certain categories of students. The University has a Student Grants Fund as well.
Bidzina Ivanishvili and his family donated one billion euros to establish Kutaisi International University.
