Kobakhidze: Data shows homicide rates have steadily dropped since 2020; three times lower on average than pre-2012 levels

“International rankings demonstrate that Georgia is one of the safest countries in the world, and official statistics confirm this reality,” Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.

As the Head of Government noted, there are numerous disgraceful fabrications, particularly surrounding murder rates.

“They were trying to paint a picture, among them so-called journalists, so-called NGOs, and party activists, as if the situation regarding homicides had deteriorated. In reality, the statistics tell the entire story. I want to remind you that homicide is a category of crime where statistical manipulation is utterly impossible. What do the statistics show?

Taking the past few years, the period since 2020, a decrease has been recorded every single year. A year-on-year drop in homicide figures has been recorded consistently over these recent years. As for the comparison with the pre-2012 era, these figures are on average three times lower. These are hard facts, and everything else is disgraceful speculation, which, I will repeat once again, these people are conducting as a form of sabotage against their own country.
