A Memorandum of Understanding in the foreign trade and development sphere was signed between the Kingdom of Belgium and Georgia within the framework of the Georgian PM’s Brussels visit.

Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs, Foreign Trade and the Federal Cultural Institutions, Hadja Lahbib, signed the MoU.

The memorandum aims to contribute to high-level political, economic and cultural ties and hold consultations over European and Euro-Atlantic integration issues.

The document allows the sides to intensify trade, tourism and investment contacts. It also creates the framework for cooperation in diplomatic studies, science and culture spheres.

The memorandum recognizes Georgia’s European Perspective and reconfirms support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. It also reiterates the Bucharest Summit decision that Georgia will become a NATO member.
